Summary
This position is a vital role in the New Life Kitchen. The Kitchen manager wakes up every day thinking about ‘the ministry of the table’ and providing nutritious meals and hospitality to KARM’s New Life residents. The manager oversees all food service operations for the kitchen at Mountain Lake Ranch, inventory management, menu planning, food quality control and safety and sanitation. The Kitchen manager is a working manager who actively participates in daily production tasks as well as daily needed shifts that may require evenings and weekends.
Duties
· Schedule kitchen staff shifts for the week at Mountain Lake Ranch location.
· Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques.
· Assist in Mentoring, Training, and Coaching the men in New Life.
· Trains and provides ongoing oversight to all users of the kitchen on operations, safety, sanitation, and maintenance.
· Keep weekly and monthly cost reports.
· Manager implements and enforces all kitchen standard operating procedures.
· Oversees production consistency and quality of resident meals.
· Places all orders and manages inventory through local vendors.
· Ensures that the kitchens conform to legal, safety, and health specifications per Sevier County Health Department.
· Actively participates in kitchen processes and responsibilities.
· Models Christian conduct and behavior to residents, staff, volunteers and community.
· Contributes to New Life team environment in restoring the lives of the residents
Requirements
· Demonstrated commitment to Christian faith; spiritually mature
· Proven management skills
· ServSafe certification
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in high volume food production
· Proven communication skills
· Experience in a faith-based, non-profit setting highly desirable
· Experience working with at-risk populations highly desirable
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Working Conditions
· Able to easily and freely move about the kitchen, standing for long periods of time on concrete floors
· Kitchen environment typically warmer than other areas
· Hazards associated with commercial kitchen environment
· Occasional travel
· Occasional required attendance at KARM special events, sometimes during weekend or evening hours
