Purpose of Job
- Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
- Performs heavy cleaning duties including waste disposal, mopping, sweeping and dusting.
- Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
- Notifies manager regarding the need for repairs to equipment or facilities.
- Repairs and maintains outdoor equipment and assures safety of such equipment.
- Sprays/dispenses pesticides, weed killer, fertilizer, and other chemicals; removes snakes, rodents, bee nests, and other health risks from property.
- Manages supply inventories including over 40 cleaning solutions, office school, hygiene and medical, and household supplies; responsible for obtaining Material Safety Data Sheets on all chemically based products.
- Moves equipment and furniture for all KCHD buildings as needed.
- Interfaces with contractors and subcontractors regarding building renovation projects and repairs; interfaces with sales representatives regarding product quality and availability; interfaces with other maintenance staff and businesses to seek service and or products.
- Maintains grounds and removes trash and debris as necessary.
- Performs carpentry tasks such as plastering, painting, sanding, trimming and remodeling.
- Assists in performing basic plumbing and appliance repair work.
- Performs routine vehicle maintenance tasks to include checking fluid levels and refueling vehicles.
- Assists in arranging for additional services from the Knox County Service Center.
- Monitors inventory of supplies; receives and fills weekly orders for cleaning services.
Minimum Training & Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position
- Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License

Pay: $15.91 per hour
