QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or GED, science related college degree or coursework preferred
· Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software specifically Microsoft Office Word and Excel
· Ability to successfully communicate project details verbally and via written reports
· Must be able to medically qualify to wear a negative-pressure respirator as required to perform asbestos related duties
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently, 100 lbs. occasionally and 100 lbs. with assistance
· Must have dependable transportation to work
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES
· Report to Craft Foreman, Leadman or assigned Supervisor
· Plan and coordinate work assignments
· Communicate and schedule work in a manner that will least impact the normal school activities at the affected facilities
· Ensure quality preventive and corrective maintenance of all affected facilities. To participate in continuing education both on-the-job and in classroom instruction.
· Ensure that assigned Maintenance Work Orders are completed as scheduled
· Communicate regularly with immediate supervisor about task-related concerns
· Inspect assigned work sites before work begins and at completion
· Assist in other special projects or assigned duties as designated by immediate supervisor
· Ensure that safe work habits and good engineering practices are observed
· Read and write English
· Ability to read tape measure, read and interpret blueprints and schematics, calculate needed materials for individual projects; perform mathematical computations (i.e., measuring angles, adding and subtracting fractions, etc.)
· Develop working knowledge of KCS Work Order system to adequately bring assigned work task to closure
· Accurate record-keeping of asbestos-related surveys, inspections, and removal projects
· Perform indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments utilizing a variety of assessment strategies and diagnostic equipment
· Maintain a safe environment in the schools
· Lift, climb, bend, crawl, and kneel to complete assigned tasks
· Work in small or restricted areas
· Work from a ladder and scaffold
· Perform heavy physical labor in adverse conditions
· Follow verbal and written instructions
· Establish and maintain satisfactory, cooperative, and respectful working relationships with others within the school environment
· Perform other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.72 - $34.12 per hour
