What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Director of Special Education position at Knox County Schools?
Organize, manage, monitor and cast vision for the Knox County Schools Special Education Programs while ensuring Federal and State Compliance.
- Report to Assistant Superintendent of Student Success
- Evaluate, supervise and coordinate the Knox County Schools Special Education programs, including certified and non-certified personnel, resources, materials and equipment
- Coordinate and cooperate with District administrators and supervisors in the implementation of quality instructional programming
- Work with administrators and supervisors to promote student needs and assess and develop services to meet those student needs
- Plan, facilitate, and implement in-service and professional development opportunities for Special Education teachers, school administrators, support staff and parentsconsistent with teacher and program evaluation outcomes.
- Provide for compliance with procedural safeguards
- Develop and manage federal and local budgets, and oversee the preparation of any required reports or monitoring
- Collaborate with Human Resources in the evaluation, interviewing and hiringof certified and non-certified Special Education personnel
- Write, update, and maintain policies and procedures related to special education and students receiving special education services
- Serve as a liaison with parents and the community for issues related to Special Education
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary : $93,922 - $155,122
