What are the responsibilities and job description for the RBT/Teacher Aide position at Knoxville Center for Autism, Inc.?
Summary
Assists teachers with supervision, toileting, behavior management and teaching of children on the spectrum in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts as directed by classroom teachers. This is a Monday-Friday, 8am-2pm or 8am-3pm. (part time 8a - 2p and full time 8a-5p available)
The individual must obtain their RBT certification which KCA will help with this process. We are clinic based, provide guaranteed hours, and on the job training (40 hour course work must be completed before starting). Our mission is to help children reach their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
- Lead 1-on-1 ABA therapy sessions with children between the ages of 5-10 on the Autism Spectrum. ABA therapy is specific to VB (Verbal Behavior).
- Take and maintain all appropriate data for each child during sessions.
- Assists teachers with accompanying students to the bathroom/ toileting needs of all the students in the classroom setting.
- Assists teachers with maladaptive behaviors by following individual behavior protocols of each child or as directed by the teachers and BCBA.
- Leads classroom activities at the direction of the teacher.
- Assists children or adults, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments as directed by classroom teacher.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass RBT exam within first 90 days.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
- Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
