The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has an opening for a Laborer. In this role you will, under general supervision, provide general physical laborer support such as cleaning and prepping sites and assisting other craft workers.
Duties And Responsibilities
Material handling such as moving heavy furniture, equipment and other objects
Grass cutting and trimming, tree and shrub planting and pruning, heavy brush cutting and clearing, leaf removal and other landscaping tasks
Cleaning grounds, walks, and shops
Heavy manual work such as heavy digging and running a jackhammer as well as other small machines
Maintaining roadways and performing routine grounds maintenance in accordance with established safety procedures
Carrying out site prep and cleanup for projects, construction areas, and special events to eliminate possible hazards
Cleaning building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming
Performing floor maintenance utilizing equipment such as buffers and polishers
Removing and disposing of trash including recyclables
Performing minor work in support of other trades
Other tasks as assigned by management

Basic (or Required) Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of general laborer related experience involving, but not limited to: roads and grounds maintenance, delivery of materials and supplies, supporting craft workers and other typical laborer skills and experience.
Work will involve various physical requirements and certain working conditions and as such a post offer, pre-hire physical will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of general laborer experience.
Formal training programs and industrial experience.
Ability to perform basic trade skills and observe all safety rules and regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well read and write.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees and customers.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services is required. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
