Job Title: Summer Food Access Associate I - Agent
An employee of this classification receives supervision from the Food Distribution Manager, Nutrition Services Assistant Director, and Mobile Meals management staff. Work is performed on a part-time to full-time basis Monday – Friday (flexibility from a minimum of 30 hours to potential total of 40 hours per week). This position is responsible for the delivery of essential food items to vulnerable populations in Knox County, including children and older adults. Primarily supports the USDA Summer Food Service Program and CAC Mobile Meals. Responsibilities include delivery of meals to site partners and clients throughout Knox County. Summer Food Service Program runs in June and July; the position is flexible for June ONLY or June AND July employment designations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist driver as a team member during the delivery of food services route in a timely and efficient manner.
· Accurately load all assigned meals, beverages and condiments associated with the meal with good food safety practices to ensure food is delivered in a safe and sanitary manner.
· Utilizes mobile apps on smartphone to aid in the delivery process, communicate relevant information to staff, and document services provided.
· Interacts with clients and community partners in a friendly and professional manner. Reports any comments or concerns to relevant staff members.
· Cross-trained to serve in multiple food distribution roles; could include Mobile Meal or Food Distribution office assistance when needed (or desired).
· Ensures accurate and complete documentation of services for federal and state-regulated programs.
· Aids in loading food items for distribution.
· Adjusts meal counts based on changes and cancellations from community partners. Communicates all changes in a timely manner.
· Performs a quality assurance check of food items both at the distribution point and upon delivery to clients or community partners.
· Maintains work cleanliness and completes cleaning tasks as assigned.
· Follows health and safety food protocols as instructed by Food Distribution staff.
· Responds quickly and appropriately to any volunteer, client, or partner crisis based on established protocols. Relays all relevant information to supervisor and/or authorities if instructed.
Knowledge and Abilities: A person in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
· Ability to follow established protocols and guidelines when handling, delivering, or serving food items.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance (physical exam required and paid by employer).
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to interpret and carry out instructions provided verbally or in writing.
· Ability to maintain a pleasant, mature personality and professional appearance while working.
· Ability to maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule.
· Reading and math skills at or above a tenth-grade level.
· Proficient computer, tablet, and smart phone skills.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. Previous food service experience and relevant experience with youth, elderly, or and/or other vulnerable populations.
Salary & Wage Scale: $14.69/hour
