Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the nursing department and staff.
- Develop and implement the vision, philosophy, and goals for the nursing services in alignment with the organization's overall strategic plan.
- Organize, plan, and direct nursing programs and services.
- Work with the Corporate Compliance Officer to establish and maintain nursing service policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission).
- Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Participate in organizational strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Serve as a liaison between the nursing department and other departments, medical staff, and administration.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the nursing department.
- Represent the nursing department in meetings and committees.
Staff Management and Development:
- Recruit, hire, orient, and retain qualified nursing staff.
- Develop and implement staff development and training programs to ensure competency and continuous learning.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Schedule and assign nursing staff effectively to meet patient care needs.
- Address staff concerns and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and professional growth among nursing staff.
- Mentor and support nurse managers and other nursing leaders.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to provide safe and quality client care.
Client Care and Quality:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centered nursing care.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing services and client outcomes.
- Implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement plans.
- Participate in the development and implementation of client care protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to client safety standards and protocols.
- Investigate and resolve client complaints and concerns related to nursing care.
- Stay abreast of current nursing practices and evidence-based research.
- Promote cliennt advocacy and ensure client rights are upheld.
Clinical Practice and Consultation:
- Serve as a clinical resource and consultant for nursing staff.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant clinical practices and procedures.
- Participate in client care conferences and rounds as needed.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated client care.
- Ensure accurate and complete patient documentation.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
- Master's Degree in a nursing specialty area
- Two year's experience in a leadership role (preferred)
- A strong understanding of current nursing procedures, medications, and their administration
- Experience in addiction treatment is a plus
