Job Description:
We are currently seeking a qualified Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher to provide individualized physical education services for one student with unique needs. This position involves delivering targeted instruction, collaborating with school staff, and facilitating inclusion to support the student’s success in physical education settings.
Service Requirements:
Direct Individual APE Instruction:
- 20 minutes per session
- 5 sessions per six-week grading period
PE Inclusion Support:
- 10 minutes within the general PE setting
- 1 session per six-week grading period
Consultation with PE Teacher:
- 15-minute consultations
- 2 sessions per six-week grading period
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement customized APE programs tailored to the student’s needs and abilities
- Support and promote student participation in general physical education when appropriate
- Collaborate with the general PE teacher to implement necessary modifications and accommodations
- Monitor progress and maintain documentation aligned with IEP goals
- Communicate regularly with staff and relevant support personnel to ensure service consistency
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Adapted Physical Education (as required by the state or district)
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a PE or inclusive setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt physical activities to suit diverse needs
