Job Overview
We are looking for an Operations Manager to ensure that our repair shop runs smoothly and efficiently by managing the workflow, scheduling repairs, and coordinating with mechanics, technicians, and customers. Our mechanics perform maintenance and repairs on all types of commercial vehicles using a variety of tools and equipment. This hands-on manager position is responsible for coordination, scheduling, and auditing of maintenance repairs to include preventative, mechanical, and electrical repairs to tractors, trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment. The Operations Manager also handles administrative tasks such as inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining records.
To excel in the role of Operations Manager at our repair shop, candidates should have a strong background in mechanical repair and maintenance. They should possess excellent organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage the shop’s operations. Additionally, candidates should have experience in customer service and be able to handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure are also important qualities for this role.
Responsibilities
- Oversees service and repair orders daily
- Drives profitability and productivity of the team
- Maintains Customer Satisfaction
- Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards
- May assist in diagnosing vehicle problems
- May order parts and tools as necessary
- Oversees administration of warranty claims
- Works with upper management and HR to make service department hiring and discipline decisions
- Sets schedules and assigns tasks to service department employees
- Reinforces company policies and adheres to company standards
- Ensures revenue and profit margin goals are attained
- Maintains effective employee relations
- Ensures mechanics complete and maintain work orders, part requisitions, and other records or tasks as required
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements often
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing employees in a vehicle repair environment or equivalent
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history and motor vehicle record review
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external clients.
- Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects, tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service and organizational skills required
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
