Overview
The Director of Freight Brokerage at Hornish Bros. Inc. will lead the growth and operational excellence of the brokerage division, focusing on delivering multimodal transportation solutions across surface, air, and ocean modes. With a strong emphasis on business development, this role will drive customer acquisition, expand carrier networks, and ensure seamless service delivery across domestic and international markets. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customer relationship management, supply chain management, and logistics, with a proven track record in sales management and lead generation. This role requires a visionary leader who can effectively manage teams, foster relationships, and implement innovative solutions to enhance our business operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development

  • Develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the multimodal brokerage division, targeting key industries and markets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new clients requiring surface transportation, air freight, and ocean freight solutions.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with carriers and logistics providers across all transportation modes to ensure capacity and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, assess competition, and refine service offerings.

Leadership and Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing brokerage team with expertise in multimodal logistics.
  • Set performance targets and provide ongoing coaching to ensure achievement of revenue and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with other Hornish Bros. divisions to integrate brokerage services into the company’s broader logistics solutions.

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of shipments across surface, air, and ocean modes, ensuring timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Utilize advanced TMS and multimodal logistics platforms to optimize routing and track shipments.
  • Ensure alignment with Hornish Bros. standards for service quality and operational efficiency.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for key accounts, managing complex multimodal shipments and resolving any service issues.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients, focusing on understanding their unique logistics needs and providing customized solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional services to existing clients.

Financial and Strategic Oversight

  • Manage the brokerage division’s P&L, ensuring profitability through cost control and margin optimization.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients and carriers to maximize revenue and margin.
  • Present performance reports and strategic updates to Hornish Bros.’ executive leadership team.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure all multimodal operations comply with domestic and international regulations, including customs, export controls, and carrier requirements.
  • Mitigate risks associated with multimodal transportation by maintaining robust processes and partnerships.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in freight brokerage or logistics, with significant exposure to multimodal transportation.
  • Proven track record in business development and sales, with success in growing revenue and market share.

Skills and Competencies

  • Deep understanding of surface, air, and ocean transportation, including carrier management and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in TMS and multimodal logistics systems, CRM platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Salary : $115,000 - $145,000
