This role offers an exciting opportunity to support open-ended, child-directed educational play in our dynamic museum spaces. As an Education Guide, you'll be a key player in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for children, families, and educators alike, aligning with the museum’s mission to nurture curiosity, creativity, and learning through play.
What You’ll Do
As an Education Guide, your day will be filled with hands-on, meaningful experiences that inspire young minds and build connections. Here's a snapshot of what you'll be responsible for:

- Encourage Play-Based Learning: Help facilitate children to engage in open-ended, freely chosen, and personally directed play. Model creative, respectful interactions with children and guide them through their learning journeys.
- Engage with Families and Educators: Create an inclusive, supportive environment for adults and caregivers, engaging them in meaningful interactions and encouraging them to participate in their children's play and learning experiences.
- Design Interactive Activities: Plan and support/facilitate hands-on activities, including guided play sessions, sensory-friendly experiences, story times, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) challenges tailored for various age groups and learning needs.
- Foster Literacy and Socio-Emotional Development: Integrate early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning into all programming, ensuring that every child has access to a rich, educational experience.
- Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with fellow museum staff, educators, and caregivers to develop early learning curricula, daily programming, workshops, refine family engagement strategies, and continuously improve our offerings.
- Reflect and Grow: Participate in daily reflective practice, sharing insights, observing children’s play, and adjusting programs to ensure inclusivity and developmentally appropriate experiences.
- Support Museum Operations: Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors. Assist with museum events, including camps, workshops, after-hours programming, and outreach initiatives. Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors, troubleshoot any issues, and maintain the museum’s standards.
