What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Director position at Koch Foods, Inc.?
- Manage QA department.
- Implement new products, projects, audits, customer service requests, etc.
- Review daily product dispositions with General Manager and Food Safety Team.
- Organize and lead team in weekly QA meetings.
- Attend weekly Leadership, Food Safety, and Inventory meetings.
- Schedule, prepare, and host audits including annual third party, USDA, and customer.
- Keep all customer and supplier records up to date and relevant.
- Approve and manage suppliers with supply chain to meet Koch QA and Food Safety goals.
- Manage raw material specifications & issues.
- Manage the finished product micro program and dispositions.
- Manage customer product complaints (response, correction & prevention).
- Oversee spec/formula changes for QA/Food Safety.
- Work collaboratively with USDA: keep them informed and follow through with issues, concerns, NRs, audit schedule, prep, and corrective actions.
- Lead weekly QA Supervisor and bi-weekly Process Improvement meetings.
- Verify daily SSOP, scale calibration, and other food safety paperwork.
- Manage product returns and inventory dispositions.
- Maintain and revise HACCP, SSOP, and Biosecurity/Food Defense program.
- Conduct Food Safety training with all employees.
- Ensure completion of monthly internal audits and glass/hard plastic audits.
- Oversee Quality procedures, HACCP, SSOP, Biosecurity, Food Defense, Allergen program, GMPs, etc.
- Problem-solve all food safety issues.
- Primary lead in actual recall scenarios; lead mock recall exercise with IC.
- Oversee Exports.
- Conduct HACCP Training.

- 4-year relevant degree required, microbiology degree a plus.
- Fully cooked protein experience.
- Must have USDA and AMS knowledge and experience in grading programs.
- Auditing experience: BRC and/or SQF Audit capability necessary.
- Superb attention to detail.
- Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in root cause analysis, 5s, and process improvement (Six Sigma a plus).
- Ability to train employees.
- Experience in writing programs and procedures, especially in those listed above.
- Experience in leading other departments toward a goal (audits).
