Job Description:
As a Dog Trainer at Koda K-9 Academy, you'll be responsible for helping clients and their dogs achieve behavioral goals through personalized training plans. Whether you're teaching basic obedience, addressing behavioral issues, or preparing dogs for specific tasks, your role is vital to our mission of building better relationships between dogs and their owners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct private training sessions and board and train programs for dogs of all ages and breeds
- Use balanced training techniques to teach commands, address behavioral issues, and improve dog-owner relationships
- Develop customized training plans tailored to the needs of each dog and owner
- Educate owners thoroughly on techniques, timing, and tool use
- Provide ongoing support to dog owners, answering questions and offering advice
- Ensure the safety and well-being of dogs during training sessions
- Collaborate with other team members to enhance our training programs and client experience
Qualifications:
- 1 years experience as a dog trainer or similar role preferred
- Knowledge of learning theory, classical and operant conditioning, and the ability to teach it
- Ability to work with a variety of breeds and temperaments
- Strong communication skills, both with dogs and their owners
- Certification from a recognized dog training organization (NePoPo, Leerburg School for Dog Trainers) is preferred, but not required
- Passion for dogs and helping owners build lasting relationships with their pets
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
