Position Overview:
KODA Technologies is seeking a Mission and Fault Management Systems Integration Engineer to support the MAVIS (Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System) Program. This role focuses on Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), the development of the MSFC Goal Tree, and ensuring the proper integration of monitored conditions into flight software and avionics telemetry. The engineer will work closely with MSFC flight software and LM avionics teams to ensure that fault management and system health monitoring are fully integrated into the spacecraft's architecture. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the MAVIS program, ensuring the development of a robust and reliable fault management system for one of NASA's most ambitious Mars exploration missions.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop the Integrated System Level FMEA, FMECA, Fault Tree, Goal Tree, etc, using a combination of classical and model-based systems engineering approaches.
- Develop the Fault Protection Design Document (FPDD) and the Monitored Condition List
- Perform Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify and assess potential system failure modes and their impact on MAVIS mission success.
- Support the development of the MSFC Goal Tree, ensuring mission-critical monitored conditions are captured and integrated.
- Collaborate with the MSFC Flight Software team to ensure fault management strategies are effectively incorporated into software architecture.
- Work with the LM Avionics team to verify that telemetry includes all necessary monitored conditions for fault detection and response.
- Assist in defining Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) strategies to ensure mission reliability.
- Utilize Fault Analysis Tools as well as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and SysML to support system modeling, requirements traceability, and design analysis.
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Prior experience working in Vehicle Health Management, Fault Detection Isolation, and Recovery.
- Knowledge of Avionics and Flight Software.
- Experience with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), FMEA, FMECA and fault management system development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
Desired Skills:
- Ability to read SysML and interact with MBSE products such as Cameo, Magic Draw, or Rhapsody
