Position Summary:
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Kognitiv Edge, you will be traveling to various customer locations to understand their toughest challenges and build mission-critical solutions. You will leverage your software development, data engineering, and problem-solving skills to create, deploy, and integrate cutting-edge technology that directly impacts real-world operations.
You’ll work in small, high-caliber teams to execute high-stakes projects end-to-end, from designing cloud infrastructure to developing data-driven applications. This role is ideal for software engineers who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and want to make a tangible difference.
Key Responsibilities:
Own full-cycle technical projects—from discovery to deployment—with a mix of hands-on software engineering and problem-solving.
Develop and deploy software solutions that drive operational effectiveness for high-performance teams.
Utilize efficient, concise Object-Oriented Programming to effectively solve problems and integrate new functionality.
Integrate and optimize data pipelines and cloud-based architectures for efficient information processing.
Design and implement API connections, front-end applications, and cloud services to ensure seamless data access and usability.
Work closely with customers (military, law enforcement, and enterprise clients) to understand pain points and deliver innovative solutions.
Architect and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support scalable, cloud-native applications.
Support DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring robust and efficient deployment practices.
Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to translate real-world needs into technical solutions.
Travel up to 15% to work alongside clients on-site, delivering hands-on support and integration.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, MIS, or a related field OR meets all other requirements and has at least 3 years programming experience and 3 years as a developer in cloud environment.
2 years of experience in software development, cloud engineering, or data engineering.
Strong foundation in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with Azure (1-3 years) or AWS (3-5 years) in cloud development.
Experience in DevOps (CI/CD, Git Source Control) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform.
Proficiency in ETL processes and relational/non-relational databases.
Ability and interest to travel up to 25% as needed for client engagement.
Preferred Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to convey complex technical principles to less-technical personnel
Knowledge of Azure services
Terraform or other IAC experience
Experience with ETL development and Data Lakes
Some familiarity with Power BI and data visualization tools
Understanding of API development and basic OAuth 2.0 principles
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines
Experience with Object-Oriented Programming and scripting
