Lead the development and execution of holistic, integrated public relations strategy that supports company business objectives and reaches key external stakeholders including national, regional and trade digital, print and broadcast business media.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and lead an overarching corporate PR storytelling plan that supports key business initiatives and corporate reputation programs
- Manage PR support of specified business area initiatives, including drafting strategic plans to drive impactful storytelling
- Lead and execute PR campaigns, including the development of strategic communications materials, national, regional and trade media relations; and other applicable public relations efforts
- Develop strong national and trade business media contacts to drive positive press coverage for Kohl's and support broader corporate reputation efforts
- Support executive thought leadership, including social media strategy, creating strategic messaging and providing appropriate media training and public relations counsel in preparation for media interviews and events
- Work in partnership across the broader Kohl’s communications team and Kohl’s marketing team to align public relations strategies with holistic communications and marketing initiatives
- Manage the Corporate Website, including leading strategic content direction and development updates for the site, ensuring Kohl’s is delivering a relevant, accurate and useful site to external stakeholders
- Stay well informed on current news cycle and competitive trends and insights to inform and evolve corporate public relations strategies
- Create a positive and effective work environment by setting clear objectives, fostering collaboration, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communication
- Help build great teams across the communications pyramid through transparent communication, seeking everyday development opportunities for team members and fostering a culture of appreciation and inclusion

What Skills You Have
- Four-year degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or other applicable areas of study
- 8-10 years of experience in public relations, journalism, communications or public affairs
- Proven experience with public relations strategy development, implementation and demonstration of results
- Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Adept ability to create clear, succinct written materials quickly
- Media relations expertise across national, regional and trade print, broadcast and digital media relations experience
- Ability to manage numerous external communications programs involving many components in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience with issues management and providing PR counsel
- Experience working with senior executives to develop and implement strategic external communications initiatives
- 1-2 years experience managing direct reports and/or managing working teams
- Experience working as part of an in-house corporate public relations team for a large public company and/or retailer
- Experience with strategies of various corporate reputation programs such as influencer and analyst relations, editorial content development for corporate website and digital newsletters, corporate social media, corporate awards and rankings and/or reputational research
