Responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards; sanitation and cleanliness; training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion and cost control and sanitation and cleanliness.
This position reports to Senior Management.
Kitchen Management/Supervisory Duties
including but not limited to:
- Developing a team will be a top priority.
- All positions are hands-on as needed, in a fast paced kitchen.
- Supervise kitchen employees and organize food orders.
- Oversee the food preparation and cooking process.
- Order supplies, food and ingredients based on the needs of the facility.
- Store all food products in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that the kitchen, dish and food storage areas are maintained in a clean and organized manner.
- Train kitchen employees in designated stations
- Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
- Work with the restaurant manager to price and change menu items.
- Direct the day to day activities of kitchen staff.
- Interact positively with a diverse employee and customer base
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, for top positions preferred.
- Training or education may be used in lieu of experience for supervisory positions.
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations.
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
- ServSafe (or equivalent) Certified, or willing to obtain certification right away.
