Job Title: Production Mechanic Department: Production

Supervisor's Title: Fleet Manager Location: Yard and shop, and field

Purpose of position: As an integral part of our maintenance team, this position will be responsible for maintenance repairs to of all KSI operation components of vehicles and equipment which include but are not limited to preventative, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs.

• Responsible for the operation components of all KSI trucks and equipment
• Negotiate pricing with vendors for tools, parts, and equipment
• Order parts after obtaining approval from front office
• Communicate and coordinate with Fleet Manager on equipment that is down and any needs or issues
• Install and maintain all cameras on Kolbe Striping trucks
• Conduct maintenance and inspections on all Kolbe Striping operation components
• Make quick, accurate decisions on problems and communicates solutions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the maintenance shop and subsequent working areas related to the shop. (Parts room, office, areas around shop, yard, etc.)
• Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary
  
  

Job Specifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Basic reading and writing skills
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand and power tools
• Knowledge of working mechanics of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics and electrical functions of construction equipment
• Knowledge and ability to weld
• Knowledge of and exposure to hazardous chemicals including oil, antifreeze, asphalt, cement, solvents and batter acids
• Ability to train apprentice mechanics manual tasks as needed for equipment operation
• Communication skills
• Organizational skills
• Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  
  

Training/Education

• 2 years education at an accredited diesel or automotive college and three years experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic in a construction or construction related industry
• CDL Class A or B License or ability to obtain license
  
  

Experience

• Three or more years' experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic
• One year experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic in a construction or construction related industry
  
  

Working Environment

• Outdoor environment that includes exposure to rain, sleet, snow, extreme cold, dust, mud, heat, direct sunlight, and noise
• May be exposed to moving vehicles, moving parts, exhaust and fumes
  
  

Physical Activities

• Prolonged standing and bending, reaching, crawling, climbing, grasping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting
• Often includes lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling items up to 75 pounds
• Can require working at elevated heights
