Position Summary:
As a Raw Materials Specialist at Kolmar Labs, you will support the quality, regulatory, and R&D functions by managing the company’s raw material portfolio and ensuring compliance, organization, and innovation readiness. This role includes acquiring and maintaining raw material documentation, assisting with new material research, streamlining the existing portfolio, and implementing regulatory systems. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Regulatory, R&D, and Marketing to support product development and ensure ingredient compliance and availability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Raw Material Management & Documentation:
- Manage and organize Kolmar’s raw material database to ensure up-to-date and complete documentation.
- Acquire, review, and upload vendor-supplied raw material documentation (e.g., COAs, SDS, TDS, regulatory certifications).
- Provide EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) handling alerts based on raw material data.
- Assist with the generation and maintenance of SDS for approved final formulas in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure raw materials are properly classified and documented for internal and external audits.
- Regulatory & Quality Compliance:
- Partner with Regulatory to implement and maintain new Regulatory Management Software.
- Maintain ingredient compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation, REACH).
- Serve as a liaison between Quality, R&D, and Regulatory teams to ensure material documentation aligns with formulation and safety standards.
- Support internal audits and customer requests related to raw material data.
- Collaboration & Innovation Support:
- Collaborate with R&D and Regulatory to support new raw material evaluation and integration into innovative formulations.
- Assist in sourcing raw material samples and managing supply during formula development.
- Support Marketing and R&D by ensuring ingredient information is current, organized, and readily available for product claims and development needs.
- Portfolio Optimization & Supplier Engagement:
- Work with Procurement to identify like-for-like material replacements and streamline the raw material portfolio.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies within the existing raw material landscape.
- Build and maintain relationships with raw material suppliers; assist in data collection and supplier communications as needed.
- Stay up to date on raw material trends and innovations to support future development needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific field.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in raw material management, quality assurance, regulatory, or R&D in cosmetics, personal care, or related industries.
- Knowledge of raw material regulatory and safety documentation (COA, SDS, TDS, etc.).
- Experience with documentation databases and regulatory systems preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with documentation management systems a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to take initiative.

Work Schedule:
- Full-Time, 40 hours/week
- Primarily on-site during standard business hours
- Occasional flexibility for cross-functional meetings, supplier interactions, or system implementations
- Minimal travel required (e.g., vendor audits, industry events)
