Job Overview

Seeking Sr. Engineer to support the Cleveland Engineering Group is a fully competent professional who excels in both team collaboration and leadership. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and maintains a strong relationship with the Milwaukee Engineering team for technical support and workload management. The Sr. Engineer is responsible for independently evaluating problems and providing recommendations and solutions. They receive technical guidance on complex or unusual issues and require supervisory approval for proposed project plans. Proficiency with advanced engineering tools is essential.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Machine Design Expertise: Specialize in specific areas of machine design for surface mining products, with expertise in gearing, planetary transmissions, and structures.
  • Project Management: Lead projects involving conventional engineering practices combined with computer-aided tools and programs.
  • Design Coordination: Oversee design projects from inception to completion, including project definition, proposals, design reviews, analysis, validation, implementation, and verification.
  • Operational Support: Provide engineering dispositions for material deviations and substitutions to support operations.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and assist less experienced engineers and interns.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.
    • Master’s degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering encouraged.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license encouraged.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 8 years in product engineering.
    • Previous experience in the mining industry or with heavy, mobile equipment.
    • At least 1 year of experience supervising engineers and designers (preferred, not required).
  • Skills:
    • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in:
      • SolidWorks
      • Finite Element (FE) analysis tools
      • Microsoft Excel
  • Professional Development:
    • Active participation in continuing education and professional development activities.
Additional Information

This role involves managing supporting substantial product sales and making critical technical decisions that can impact costs and customer downtime. It may require travel to various sites. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and positive leader, focused on safety and continuous improvement, and capable of building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
