Key Job Responsibilities
- Machine Design Expertise: Specialize in specific areas of machine design for surface mining products, with expertise in gearing, planetary transmissions, and structures.
- Project Management: Lead projects involving conventional engineering practices combined with computer-aided tools and programs.
- Design Coordination: Oversee design projects from inception to completion, including project definition, proposals, design reviews, analysis, validation, implementation, and verification.
- Operational Support: Provide engineering dispositions for material deviations and substitutions to support operations.
- Mentorship: Mentor and assist less experienced engineers and interns.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.
- Master’s degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering encouraged.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license encouraged.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in product engineering.
- Previous experience in the mining industry or with heavy, mobile equipment.
- At least 1 year of experience supervising engineers and designers (preferred, not required).
- Skills:
- High-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in:
- SolidWorks
- Finite Element (FE) analysis tools
- Microsoft Excel
- Professional Development:
- Active participation in continuing education and professional development activities.
