Ensuring that materials are available when needed and properly stored, the Materials Handler is responsible for the movement and storage of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies within the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transporting materials to and from storage areas, production lines, or other parts of the facility
- Labeling and tagging materials with identifying information such as part numbers, lot codes, or expiration dates
- Using the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to maintain accurate inventory records, tracking the movement of materials in and out of the facility, and performing periodic physical counts to ensure accuracy
- Picking and pulling parts and conducting visual inspection of materials
- Ensuring that materials are stored in proper locations and in the correct quantities using various types of storage systems such as shelves, racks, or bins
- Communicating with other departments, such as production or purchasing, to coordinate the movement of materials and ensure that production schedules are met
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to identify and implement process improvements, cost savings, or other efficiency gains.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and using proper lifting techniques
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Ability to prioritize and work well on a team
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and lift up to 70 lbs. independently
Nice To Have:
- Previous experience using forklifts or cranes
- Previous power hand tool experience
- Forklift Certification
