Job Title: Delivery Driver (Meals on Wheels)

Reports to: Logistics Manager

Location: LIC, NY

Position Summary

Kommissary is a social enterprise on a mission to spread joy through food. We produce and deliver high volumes of meals spanning a diverse array of cuisines to every demographic in New York City.

Kommissary is seeking a meal delivery driver who is responsible for safe driving, maintaining the vehicle, delivering meals to homebound elders while observing the client and their surrounding area (reporting concerns as needed). This person should possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. We are looking for an observant, communicative, reliable and compassionate person with a clean driving history. Responsibilities & Duties

• Maintain your own delivery route, ensuring clients receive their meals on time.
• Monitor and record food temperatures, reporting any issues to the logistics Coordinator.
• Ensure adherence to planned menus and report any changes as needed.
• Pick-up meals and deliver them to homebound elders.
• Return completed paperwork at the end of your route, noting any missed deliveries.
• Safely return any undelivered meals to the appropriate storage.
• Follow all road safety rules and exercise good judgment while driving.
• Observe clients and their surrounding area; report concerns as needed.
• Keep vehicles clean and in good operating condition, assisting with the oversight of their maintenance.
• Inspect vehicles daily and report any operational or structural defects immediately.
• Review vehicle documentation to ensure inspections, registration, and insurance information are all up-to-date.
• Maintain accurate daily log of meal deliveries and contributions collected.
• Assist in scheduling meal deliveries to minimize time and distance between delivery.
• Keep daily gasoline and mileage records.
• Pick-up and return vehicles to garage or parking place daily.
• Work Monday-Friday 35-40 hours a week.
• Must be able to drive in inclement weather.
  
  

Compensation

Pay range is $21.00 to $22.00/per hour, depending on skill level, experience and/or education. Compensation offered is also subject to local wage and hour laws.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid NYS driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to complete Elder Abuse Training after being hired
• Experience with GPS navigation.
• At least 2 years of driving experience in NYC or high traffic areas.
• Strong empathy for the needs of homebound seniors.
• Must pass a thorough background check and drug test.
• Must provide two professional references.
• Must speak English fluently. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
