This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The Analyst Coder I will be responsible for:
- Ensure the accuracy of data entered critical fields according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), performing data entry functions as needed.
- Provide quality assurance of the entered data, providing critical feedback to data entry staff using a database designed to capture, track, and report errors.
- Utilize advanced software systems to resolve and handle medical coding of adverse event forms using appropriate coding terms and taxonomies.
- Code Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs) according to established policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Resolve problems related to data entry, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the integrity and consistency of data across various systems and databases.
- Collaborate with data entry staff, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely data capture and reporting.
- Stay up to date with the latest coding standards, regulations, and best practices related to medical coding and adverse event reporting.
- Participate in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to improve data quality and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed documentation and records related to data coding, quality assurance activities, and issue resolution.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (preferred but not required) in a related health science field, such as nursing, pharmacy, veterinary science, or medical technology.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in medical coding, data entry, or quality assurance may be considered.
- Relevant certifications or licenses in medical coding, health informatics, or related fields are preferred.
- Proficient in using advanced software systems and databases for medical coding, adverse event reporting, and data entry.
- Extensive knowledge of medical coding terminologies, taxonomies, and coding standards (e.g., ICD, CPT, SNOMED, MedDRA).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve data entry and coding issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing feedback and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Ability to follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience in a government or military healthcare environment, with familiarity with relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of data quality assurance methodologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
- Understanding of data privacy and security protocols in the healthcare industry.
- Proficiency in additional coding languages or scripting for data manipulation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
