The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration, deployment, and administration of our customer's local and wide area network infrastructure. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and implement secure network architectures using routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and related devices
- Configure and integrate various routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
- Provision VLANs, access control lists, QoS policies and other services
- Perform network upgrades, maintenance, and optimizations to ensure high availability
- Monitor network health, performance, and security using industry tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, connectivity and security issues
- Automate network configuration and operational tasks through scripting
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams and runbooks
- Work with external vendors and service providers for circuit deployments
- Participate in the evaluation and testing of new networking products/technologies
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior team members
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field
- 5 years of experience designing, deploying and operating enterprise networks
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, LAN/WAN technologies
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper network devices
- Expertise in network security concepts like firewalls, VPNs, AAA, encryption
- Proficiency in network automation using Python, Ansible, Bash scripting
- Experience with network monitoring and traffic analysis tools
- Current Cisco CCNP Routing & Switching or Juniper JNCIS-ENT certification
- Ability to translate business needs into technical network architecture
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex network issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presenting
- Working knowledge of software-defined networking, cloud connectivity, and IPv6
- Attention to detail with a focus on secure network deployments
- Analytical skills to monitor capacity and implement network optimizations
- Experience deploying and operating DoD/Federal networks
- Understanding of wireless LAN technologies and mobility architectures
- Knowledge of SD-WAN, network virtualization and load balancing solutions
- Possession of security certifications like CCNP Security or JNCIS-SEC
- Familiarity with network programming languages like Python, Go, etc.
