Koniag Government Services is hiring a Proposal Writer I to support the proposal team in Chantilly, Virginia. This is a Remote opportunity.

We are seeking an entry-level Proposal Writer excited to apply their detail-oriented writing skillset in a professional setting to support our business-to-Government proposal writing process from initial information gathering to final edit and proofreading. At this growth-oriented company, you will collaborate across teams and seniority levels to capture subject matter information and expertise and turn compliant text into concise, compelling narrative. We will train you in the proposal writing process from cradle to grave and familiarize you with industry-essential tools such as MS SharePoint, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and editing software. You will:
- Independently complete editorial tasks (line/copy edits, acronym checks, proofreads, consistency checks) with minimal supervision.
- Edit proposal content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and solicitation and company writing conventions.
- Draft proposal reuse material under the direction of the Team Lead.
- Incorporate and tailor proposal reuse material into proposal outlines with guidance from the Team Lead and/or Proposal Manager.
- Assist in drafting proposal content, including but not limited to past performance, corporate experience, executive summaries, and/or key personnel resume sections.
- Participate as a writer and editor in all stages of the proposal lifecycle.
- Support other teams and departments according to need and interest.
Essential Job Functions:
- 0-2 years of experience in proposal writing and editing.
- Detail-oriented with a desire to excel and apply writing skills in a business context.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Skilled with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, or writing-intensive Humanities field.
Good to Have – But Not Required:
- Experience with editing software, especially Grammarly.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, MS SharePoint, MS Teams, and/or MS Visio.
- Familiarity with the proposal writing process, especially evolution across color team review cycle.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
