Paint Prep

Basic Function:

The Metal Prep Technician is responsible for preparing metal surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality for powder coating applications. This involves a series of cleaning, sanding, and surface treatment processes to remove contaminants, rust, and imperfections, creating an ideal surface for coating.

Responsibilities:

• Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean metal surfaces by removing oils, grease, dirt, rust, and other contaminants using methods such as sandblasting, acid washing, or chemical cleaning.
• Sanding/Grinding: Smooth rough edges, weld seams, or surface imperfections by sanding or grinding, ensuring a consistent and even texture.
• Rust and Corrosion Removal: Use abrasive tools, wire brushes, or chemical treatments to eliminate any rust or corrosion from the metal surface.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) while handling chemicals and operating machinery.
• Inventory and Maintenance: Keep track of materials used, maintain the prep area, and report equipment malfunctions to ensure smooth operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience preferably in a

manufacturing environment.

• Self-motivated with a results-driven approach

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
