Mechanical Drafter

Konik is partnering with a local custom metal fabrication shop in the South Metro area who is seeking a skilled Drafter/Detailer to join their team. In this role, you'll use SolidWorks and AutoCAD software to produce detailed shop drawings and technical documents for high-end architectural metalwork projects. Mechanical Drafter Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and layouts for custom architectural metal products, including stair railings, guardrails, wall panels, and feature elements.
- Translate architectural and interior design drawings into clear and accurate fabrication drawings.
- Maintain drawing logs and organize files for efficient production handoffs.
- Collaborate with the production team to review designs, coordinate changes, and optimize manufacturing workflows.
- Support the estimating and procurement process by generating material lists and evaluating vendor quotes.
- Analyze design requirements and recommend improvements for safety, quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Work independently and manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Provide excellent communication with internal teams and external clients as needed.
- 1-3 years of drafting experience in the custom metal fabrication or architectural metals industry.
- AAS degree in drafting, design, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; knowledge of SolidWorks, Revit, and related software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and the ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Excellent technical drafting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong math and geometry skills, including the ability to calculate areas, volumes, and other relevant figures.
- Experience with manufacturing software and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
