Job Title: Material Handler II (Temp)
Pay Rate: $20.50 per hour (plus $1.50/hour 2nd shift differential)
Schedule: 2nd Shift (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
General Position Summary
The Material Handler II is responsible for a variety of duties in warehouse material handling, including shipping, receiving, kitting, and inventory/quality assurance support functions. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a strong understanding of warehouse procedures, and the ability to collaborate with other departments.
Essential Job FunctionsMaterial Handling Activities
- Operate hand trucks, forklifts, and other equipment to move materials within the warehouse.
- Stack and store materials in designated areas.
Shipping Activities
- Execute shipping tasks in an automated shipping and receiving environment.
- Process and weigh parcels or crates, attach postage, prepare bills of lading, and maintain shipping records.
- Use FedEx/UPS platforms and coordinate with LTL carriers to process orders.
- Determine the best shipping methods to meet customer demands.
- Resolve shipping issues by interacting with senior management as needed.
- Process shipping transactions in Oracle and WMS databases.
- Review and assign shipping freight costs.
- Query and review daily shipping reports.
Receiving Activities
- Verify completeness of incoming shipments against shipping documents.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage or tampering per the Receiving SOP and report to the supervisor.
- Record shortages, exceptions, or damages.
- Deliver packages to inventory and personnel in various departments.
- Process receiving transactions in Oracle and WMS.
- Review and analyze shipping returns, including item cost credit approvals for customers.
Packing Activities
- Pack materials in boxes or containers to prepare for shipment or storage.
- Arrange items using packing materials to prevent breakage or damage.
Kitting Activities
- Pick and process work order requests in Oracle and WMS databases.
- Maintain accurate records of shortages, damages, and exceptions.
- Deliver packages to inventory and department personnel as needed.
Other Activities
- Perform inventory control functions, including issuing, receiving, and transferring quantities in Oracle.
- Maintain warehouse organization, safety, and cleanliness.
- Monitor inventory of shipping materials and notify supervisors when supplies are low.
- Occasionally drive to vendor locations for package drop-offs or pick-ups.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years in a warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of data entry processes.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment
- Ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs.
- Frequent standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Ability to handle multiple work pressures effectively.
- Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with individuals and groups.
- Ability to operate safely in a warehouse environment.
