Claims Manager (Logistics)
Location : Long Beach, CA
Employment Type : Direct Hire (100% Onsite)
Schedule : Monday – Friday, 1st Shift
Compensation : $90,000 - $130,000 per year (DOE)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Claims Manager with experience in logistics and cargo claims management to oversee the claims process, ensuring timely resolution, accurate documentation, and effective risk mitigation strategies. This role will be responsible for managing claims from receipt through settlement , collaborating with internal teams, working closely with cargo underwriters , and pursuing downstream recovery when applicable.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience in marine / maritime claims, and the ability to negotiate and resolve claims efficiently . This role is crucial in reducing risk exposure and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for cargo loss and damage claims , ensuring prompt acknowledgment, documentation, and reporting to cargo underwriters.
- Manage relationships with cargo underwriters and facilitate clear communication among all stakeholders.
- Investigate claims and determine validity, working with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Negotiate settlements and manage reserves within approved limits, escalating cases as needed.
- Ensure accurate and timely payments for claims, whether by the company or underwriters.
- Maintain detailed records of all current and historical claims, tracking status, resolution, and trends.
- Provide claims-related guidance to customer service and operational teams.
- Handle General Average and Salvage Lien cases , ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
- Pursue subrogation recoveries whenever applicable to minimize financial impact.
- Analyze claims data and trends to develop risk mitigation strategies and reduce future losses.
- Oversee claims staff performance (if applicable), including hiring, training, and development.
