CNC Operator Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a CNC Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating CNC machinery to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work with various precision measuring instruments. This role also requires strong communication when issues arise. The CNC Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently.
General Responsibilities
- Read and follow the schedule of jobs due each day
- Read job travelers and prints to produce machined parts to match the prints
- Start machines and monitor their operations
- Do not adjust programming unless authorized by your assistant manager or team lead
- Load raw material into machines
- Report scrapped material or parts in the ERP system
- Follow nonconforming guidelines when scrap is issued
- Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds
- Notify a supervisor or machinist when troubleshooting an issue for more than 10 minutes
- Document all required inspection reports accurately
- Measure and document first piece and receive verification on first piece from a qualified inspector using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers
- Measure additional pieces throughout a run to verify conformance to specifications
- Examine completed workpieces for defects and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws
- Maintain, clean, and lubricate machines as well as maintain clean workstation/area
- Comply with all OSHA and Konrady Plastics safety rules
Job Expectations
- Have a sense of urgency to complete parts in an efficient manner
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 lbs
- Ability to read prints and measure parts using appropriate inspection tools
- Basic math skills
