Design Assistant
Job Summary: Our interior design firm is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our design team in creating exceptional spaces for our clients. The Design Assistant will play a crucial role in aiding designers with projects, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring the successful implementation of design plans. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about design to develop their skills in a dynamic and creative environment. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, creative, positive and excited to be part of a team creating beautiful spaces for our clients on projects across New England, the US and globally.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the design team to develop design concepts, mood boards, and client presentations
- Research and source materials, furniture, and decor elements to support design projects
- Assist in space planning, layout design, and floor plan development using AutoCAD and Revit
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and clients to facilitate project progress
- Tracking and inventorying inbound orders for projects
- Help maintain project schedules and ensure timely completion
- Support designers during on-site visits and project installations
Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in Interior Design, Architecture or Interior Architecture
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Suite
- Proficiency in Mac OS, Windows and Office 365
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and creativity
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines effectively
- Previous experience or internship in interior design is beneficial
- Ability to assist in on-site project installations, move boxes and be active
- This is an in-person on-site job requiring you to be in our South Boston studio Monday – Friday
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of space planning, layout design, and color theory
- Understanding of material selection, industry trends, and design principles
- Familiarity with architectural and construction processes
- Rendering and visualization skills are a plus
- Project coordination and time management abilities
- Knowledge of Design Manager software is a plus but not required
