What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR/Safety Coordinator position at Koopman Lumber?
Koopman Lumber is seeking a Human Resources (HR) & Safety Coordinator to undertake a variety of HR and Safety related administrative duties. The ideal candidate will be a well-organized team player with a strong desire to contribute to the organization. This role will report to the HR Director.
Responsibilities for Safety Coordinator
- File and maintain Workers Compensation claims
- Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
- Maintain documentation related to all completed trainings and licensure requirements
- Ensure that new hire, quarterly and annual safety trainings and all other specifically required training is provided for all employees.
- OSHA 300 log maintenance and submission as required
- Assist Safety and Loss Prevention Manager with various projects/tasks as required.
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests
- Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.)
- Support the recruitment/hiring process
- Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc.
- Coordinate training sessions as required
- Perform orientations, onboarding and update records with new hires
- Other duties as necessary
Previous Experience and Necessary Skills
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices preferred
- Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and Outlook, in particular)
- Experience with HR payroll systems (e.g., Paychex)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- May require some travel to various Koopman locations
Qualifications
- Background experience in Human Resources and/or Safety preferred
- 1-2 years of administrative support, HR support, or similar discipline
- Experience with retail, lumber yards, distribution centers helpful but not necessary
- HS Diploma or equivalent
