Kootenai County is interested in recruiting individuals in the field of appraisal. Applicants without formal qualifications who can demonstrate experience and skills sets that are transferable to the role of an Ad Valorem Appraiser such as experience in building inspection, construction, real estate, or with a title company will be considered.
THE POSITION: Performs semi-complex or complex inspections of urban, rural suburban and rural unimproved land and improved residential properties to facilitate the determination of market value for assessment purposes. The nature of the work requires the employee to be detail oriented and time sensitive to mandated deadlines. The principal duties of this job are performed in a general office environment and in the field, including exposure to adverse weather conditions and require the Appraiser to drive to various, sometimes remote, locations within the County.

- $23.25 per hour

DO YOU QUALIFY?
- Do you have an Associate’s degree in a related field and 6 months of work experience in a position equivalent to appraiser trainee or equivalent years of education and experience?
- Do you possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license and are you insurable?
THIS IS THE JOB FOR YOU IF:
- You enjoy working outside in all types of weather in addition to working inside
- You are detail oriented, enjoy working independently, and have an aptitude for analytical thinking
- You have good communication skills; you are good in working with people
- You have interest in the property tax assessment process and its relationship to County governance
