Position Summary:
Develops and oversees the activities of the Forensic Nurse Examiners Program (FNE), including the development, implementation, and evaluation of the FNE program. Conducts continuous evaluation of FNE curriculum ensuring current best practice. Improves quality of care received by survivors of violent crimes through development of standards/protocols, interdisciplinary collaboration, and peer review.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees FNE program and its day-to-day operations, including on-call scheduling, payroll, and department personnel
- Responsible for FNE program development, coordination, and educational activities evaluation
- Aligns policies, practice, and processes for FNE with best-practice; researches and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and requirements
- Develops an annual budget and identifies any additional appropriate revenue sources
- Develops, implements, and manages peer review, chart audit and quality assurance mechanisms
- Participates in programs to promote recruitment, retention, and development of FNE program
- Coordinates the FNE program orientation, monitors training requirements for FNEs and schedules ongoing training as needed
- Schedules and conducts FNE staff meetings; prepares and distributes meeting minutes
- Responsible for FNE quarterly check-ins and evaluations
- Acts as a liaison with community groups, including involvement in local SARTs, and offers community education on relevant issues and the role of the project
- Develops and maintains appropriate departmental polices related to the FNE program
- Testifies in court as an expert and assist other Forensic Nurses in preparing for court testimony
- Works collaboratively with law enforcement, Prosecutor's Office, and local victim's services
- Participates in long range planning, goal setting, development, and evaluation of FNE program
- Acts as a resource to program participants
- Responsible for inventory, equipment needs, and equipment maintenance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications :
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN required
- Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho required
- Minimum 5 years of emergency department experience required
- Minimum 3 years' experience practicing as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner or Forensic Nurse Examiner required
- SANE-A and SANE-P certification required. Must hold at least one certification for SANE-A or SANE-P at the time of hire. Will be expected to obtain other certification within 2 years of hire
- ENPC, and CEN or CPEN preferred
- Completion of a Forensic Nurse program preferred
- Pediatric patient care experience preferred
- Previous supervisory experience, teaching, or leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrates ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams, communicate program needs, and work with peers to establish smooth functioning
- PALS, TNCC, and ACLS certification required
- BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation

- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Must be able to lift and move up to 10 lbs
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
