Summary:

Kopernik is seeking a Human Resources Manager with a solutions-oriented approach to HR strategies and goals. Key responsibilities include supporting company employees and managing critical human resources functions, including payroll processing, compensation and benefit administration, staffing and recruiting, human resource related laws and regulation while promoting Kopernik’s Business and Cultural Framework. Must thrive in a dynamic, employee-owned company environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administering employee benefits programs, including payroll processing and annual enrollment. Effective management of vendors and acting as liaison between employees and benefits providers.
  • Oversee and manage 401(k) plan administration including reviewing and monitoring to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for recruitment process working alongside Kopernik leaders, including screening, interviewing and onboarding potential candidates. Ensure Kopernik job descriptions are updated, as necessary.
  • Promote positive workplace culture consistent with Kopernik’s Business and Cultural Framework while serving as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing proper guidance and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Develop and update company policies and employee handbooks.
  • Manage annual performance appraisal process, including support to managers to handle performance issues and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain well-organized HR records with an eye to streamlining and gaining efficiencies through automation of routine tasks.
  • Provide managerial oversight to Kopernik Office Manager.


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in the financial services industry, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Prior experience in benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), COBRA.
  • Knowledge of self-funded healthcare plans and reference-based pricing preferred.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude, exceptional interpersonal communication skills and adept at working with a diverse group of individuals across the organization.
  • Strong ethical bias and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Possess a proactive mindset with problem solving skills while seeking opportunities for process efficiency.
  • Ability to learn and integrate Kopernik’s Business and Cultural Framework throughout HR functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HRMS/HRIS systems, including ability to review, assess and implement new tools.
  • Familiarity with ADA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and FLSA.
  • Proficiency in creating reports, responding to surveys, and writing policies and communications.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; and preferably hold HR certifications.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, employee relations, safety, training, and labor relations (preferred).


Additional Requirements:

  • This is not a remote position and will require relocation if not already local to the Tampa, FL area.
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is a precondition of employment.
