JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for procurement and sourcing activities at Kopin, minimizing any shortage situations.
• Develop and implement strategies for procuring materials and services.
• Negotiate terms price, quantity, delivery date, and quality/acceptance criteria with support from engineering and program managers.
• Collaborate with engineering and program departments to forecast demand, plan inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of materials and services. Oversee and maintain inventory planning for appropriate inventory control.
• Assesses financial risks of purchases. Ensure Kopin receives the best quality and price (including price, quality, terms and logistics) for all purchases.
• Ensures all information in a purchase order is correct for receiving and accounts payable to proceed and ensuring appropriate flow-downs from customer contracts are met by vendors.
• Provide direction and sourcing expertise on Kopin production needs.
• Perform annual competitive bidding on Kopin requirements.
• Manages the process from requisition to purchase order delivery using Plex and Omnify systems to drive purchasing decisions, requirements to suppliers and ensuring compliance with company policy and procedures.
• Primary business interface with all suppliers, while developing strong business relationships with them.
• Facilitate supplier meetings as required with key suppliers to ensure business objectives are met. Maintains sound professional relations with suppliers and resolves issues associated with terms and conditions of service agreements.
• Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
• Works with AP to resolve delivery/receiving and accounting/invoice discrepancies.
• Provide fair and concise direction to suppliers.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• REQUIRED: Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. As a defense contractor Kopin is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card holder) to be considered for this position.
• Minimum 10 years’ professional electronics component purchasing experience within the high-tech industry required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, able to work independently, and strong business judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to negotiate with suppliers for continuous cost reduction.
• Able to intelligently manage suppliers to avoid unnecessary issues.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing and availability of materials.
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to continuously improve processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to function well within a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP Systems. Able to accomplish buying activities within the ERP system.
• Demonstrated ability to constructively participate as a member of a cross-functional team.
• Trustworthy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to rotate from sitting to standing, lift 10 pounds, and gown according to clean room protocol
