What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Corporate Tax position at Kore Wireless Canada Inc.?
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax, the Manager, Corporate Tax will be responsible for working closely with the Company’s outsourced tax service providers and ensuring all tax and information filings/remittances, and tax continuity schedules for the Company’s 20 international legal entities are performed and filed on an accurate and timely basis. You will also be a key contributor to the setup and development of future legal entities in accordance with the Company’s growth plans and/or acquisitions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial:
- Assist the Head of Corporate Tax with all aspects of taxation with the Company, including strategic tax planning, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Prepare or review all assigned Canadian and foreign corporate income tax, indirect tax, and information returns.
- Responsible for the preparation of relevant SEC financial statement disclosures; tax reserves; uncertain tax positions; and annual effective tax rate computations.
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns for the Company’s international subsidiaries.
- Responsible for preparing the accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) in the US and International subsidiaries under the direction of the Head of Corporate Tax.
- Prepare and/or review information provided and coordinate the preparation of accounting for income taxes for international subsidiaries with outsourced tax service providers.
- Prepare and/or review quarterly and annual tax control documentation.
- Work closely with the Head of Corporate Tax to develop effective and operationally sound tax strategies to reduce the overall tax burden of the consolidated group of companies.
- Develop and maintain inter-company policies, financing arrangements and timely settlement of obligations between subsidiaries, in coordination with the Treasury function.
- Be responsible for preparing all transfer pricing and management fee arrangements.
- Oversee the outsourcing and results of all R&D tax studies such as SR&ED (Canada) and R&D USA studies
- Responsible for overseeing the Company is compliant with all its indirect tax obligations such as Canadian Harmonized Sales Taxes (HST/QST), Global Value Added Taxes, etc.
- Partner with the HR & Payroll functions to advise on all employee-related tax issues, including payroll taxes, T&E, and stock-based compensation.
- Review, prepare, and coordinate responses to tax notifications from federal, state/provincial and global tax authorities.
Business Process:
- Ongoing contributor to the management of outsourced tax professionals in foreign jurisdictions emphasizing performance, efficiency of deliverables and cost management.
- Effectively provides tax assistance with the Company’s quarterly and annual external audits, as required.
- Tax Planning Strategies and Special Projects: Implement planning to help the Company in budgeting, planning and managing its effective tax rate. Identify, analyze, and create models to discuss tax planning strategies for the Company and its related entities.
- Work as Tax Lead on all Legal Entity Rationalization, Intercompany transactions, and M&A activity. Advise on all aspects of Tax Planning and Structuring.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Finance or Accounting; a CPA with Tax experience with a Big 4 firm and/or SEC registrant is required.
- 4 years of experience, with full charge responsibility for all federal, and international subsidiary tax responsibilities.
- Experience with tax provisions under ASC 740 is required.
- Experience with NetSuite, Blackline, and Sure Tax ERP/accounting software solutions are an asset.
