Executive Search – Corporate Controller – Fort Worth, TX
Korn Ferry has been exclusively retained to recruit a Corporate Controller for a private equity-backed industrial distribution company headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. This pivotal role will lead a finance and accounting organization of more than 30 people, reporting directly to the CFO. The company is experiencing significant growth fueled by acquisitions and has ambitious plans to double topline revenue over the next five years.
As a member of the Finance Leadership Team, the Corporate Controller will have overall responsibility for the financial management, capital deployment, and fiscal integrity of the company. This includes overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records. Additionally, the Corporate Controller will play a critical role in the integration of acquisitions, driving both short-term and long-term cost savings and revenue opportunities. The Corporate Controller will partner closely with the CFO to ensure that the appropriate financial and operational metrics/data are tracked to drive the company’s strategic initiatives. This is an in-office role based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop the finance team, including a geographically dispersed team of 30 full-time employees.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders, managing daily financial operations to support organizational growth initiatives.
- Oversee all accounting and financial management for the company, including financial planning, budgeting, corporate tax matters, insurance, investments, internal audit, strategic financial analysis, valuation of assets, as well as leading accounting and financial reporting functions.
- Lead the company’s comprehensive financial reporting, including financial sponsor reporting, annual operating plan and budget, Board and internal monthly operating calls, lender reporting, and other required reports as directed by the Board or CFO.
- Manage relationships with banks and lending groups, including preparing materials for quarterly results.
- Fully support pre- and post-M&A work as well as value creation activities. Support new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
- Effectively integrate acquisitions to uncover, drive, and monitor both short-term and long-term cost savings and revenue opportunities across the organization.
- Drive automation opportunities within the finance and information technology functions to improve efficiency, including through technological optimization.
- Focus on building scalable processes and systems to accommodate rapid growth and the increasing complexity of the company’s operations.
- Lead and manage a team of 30 transactional accountants, optimizing processes to handle over $1M in annual transactions across 30 locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 15 years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, ideally in multi-site distribution or manufacturing-focused organizations.
- Experience serving as a Corporate Controller in a company concerned with inventory management and multi-site operations. Operationally oriented, divisional finance executives operating in a large acquisitive company will also be considered.
- Experience in various financial or operating assignments, responsible for developing and implementing systems, processes, and discipline to optimize business results and company performance.
- Strong analytical capabilities in pricing, margin analysis, and cost optimization.
- Experience with M&A, especially in managing financial aspects of acquisitions and post-acquisition integration.
- Experience with ERP systems (Pinnacle, Great Plains, or similar financial/accounting systems).
- Familiarity with standard costing in manufacturing environments is a plus.
