Position overview
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of our client. This position requires strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial reporting processes. Key responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support business decisions.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and marketing, to support business growth and financial reporting.
- Coordinate and assist with external audits and regulatory filings.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Continuously evaluate accounting systems and processes, recommending improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations, standards, and best practices.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA a plus).
- Minimum of 3 years of audit/accounting experience, Public accounting a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Experience in the consumer goods industry and inventory is a plus.
