Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Finance – Operations Finance will play a critical role in our client’s financial leadership team. This position will oversee and manage the operations finance function of the business, including close collaboration with various operational teams to drive key decision-making and support growth strategies. In addition to leading operational finance activities, the Senior Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting processes and supporting the company’s M&A efforts.
As a key member of the finance leadership team, the Senior Director of Finance will lead a team of 7 finance professionals, providing strategic oversight and ensuring the alignment of financial initiatives with company goals. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President of Finance and work closely with cross-functional leaders across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Finance Leadership:
- Lead the operations finance team in performing what-if scenario analysis, financial forecasting, and modeling to support operational decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with operational leaders to develop actionable insights that drive cost optimization, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Provide financial analysis and insights on key operational metrics, ensuring that financial performance aligns with business objectives.
- Partner with operations teams to evaluate performance against budget and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Financial Reporting Oversight:
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports related to operations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the senior leadership team.
- Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure that financial data and results are communicated effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor financial KPIs and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform strategic business decisions.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
- Lead financial modeling and analysis for potential mergers, acquisitions, and other business development initiatives.
- Support due diligence efforts, identifying key financial risks and opportunities related to target companies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and external advisors to ensure smooth integration of acquired businesses and alignment with overall company strategy.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 7 finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing feedback to ensure continuous professional growth for team members.
- Create an environment of high performance, fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve company goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in a large, complex, private-equity owned organization.
- Proven track record of experience in operational finance, financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, accounting principles, and financial regulations.
- Experience leading M&A activities, including due diligence, financial modeling, and post-acquisition integration.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- High level of proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
