Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, hard-working appellate and litigation paralegal to directly support our lead appellate attorney. This role requires thorough experience with appellate rules of court and litigation practices, as well as the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate will care deeply about our clients and have excellent analysis skills, an aptitude for creative open-source research, and strong project management capabilities. The successful candidate will assist attorneys in all aspects of appellate litigation. The position is likely best filled in person, however, for the right candidate we may be able to accommodate a hybrid schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in appellate and trial litigation
- Strong understanding of state and/or federal appellate and trial court rules and procedures
- Adeptness for professional, compassionate, and trauma-informed written and verbal communication with clients
- Ability to manage and track appeals and cases pending at all stages of litigation
- Possess the skills to quickly learn and master the rules of different courts and jurisdictions
- Experience working effectively in a team setting
- Proven track record of facilitating and managing long-term and short-term team projects
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Skillful at typing
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems and procedures with ease
Highly Encouraged Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification and/or Law Degree
Responsibilities:
Document Preparation and Formatting
- Drafting, editing, proofreading, and cite-checking appellate and trial court pleadings and briefs
- Ensuring format & citation compliance with appellate rules and standards
Research and Analysis
- Analyzing trial transcripts and trial exhibits
- Researching a specific company, witness or person of interest, and/or a transaction to discover relevant information
- Performing in-depth research using Westlaw and other resources
Case and Project Management
- Managing case files and documents for cases pending in multiple states and jurisdictions
- Tracking deadlines and ensuring timely, compliant filings
- Assisting with case planning and strategy
- Multitasking and successfully managing a variety of demands each day, including managing the workflow of our team’s assistant
Communication and Coordination
- Providing sensitive and proactive client support
- Working closely with staff and attorneys
- Strong oral and written communication with internal team, court clerks, and opposing counsel regarding appellate procedures and case updates
- Coordinating and filing appellate and trial court documents electronically and in hard copy as required

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
