What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Kosmos Corp?
Growing Company in Chicago. has a need for 2 Estimators in Commercial Construction.
- Base bonus benefits, package can go to $200K
- Bids : Responding to RFPs, preparing bids, and securing commercial and industrial roofing jobs
- Relationships : Developing relationships with new customers and existing customers
- Sales Pipeline : Responsible for identifying additional sales opportunities from preventative maintenance and service calls.
Specific Objectives :
o Review and understand scope of work and project specifications from architectural drawings, specifications and other pertinent bid documents.
o Compute labor and material cost estimates and itemized lists of materials
o Prepare quotations / bids for negotiated Re-Roofing or Consultant Re-Roofing from field information.
o Assist in updating and improving estimation and bidding process to reflect changes in market and business conditions.
o Work closely with manufacture representatives to request current material pricing and assembly letters.
o Stay current with industry standards, processes, and techniques.
o Maintain good relationships and communication with prime contractors, owners, staff, and manufacturers to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
o Work with project management to smoothly transition accepted proposals into active projects.
o Maintain accurate and up to date project files.
Required Knowledge & Skills :
o Ability to read and interpret specifications, bid documents, and perform project takeoffs.
o Ability to compile and prepare project submittals.
o Strong attention to detail and organizational, administrative, logistical, and communication skills.
o Calculate pricing and cost impacts for change orders.
o Data management : Most project documents are managed electronically. Proficiency with software technology including Excel and Word is a must. DataForma is a plus.
o Team coordination : Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
