Our Transmission Engineering team is looking for a Transmission Line Engineering Associate III to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in our Burnaby, Calgary, San Diego, or Arcadia office. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design. Specific areas of responsibility are provided below.
Job Description
- Routing and design of transmission lines utilizing Power Line Systems software
- Sag tension calculation for transmission tower loading. Structure design and analysis and preparing loading trees
- Developing design criteria and specifications for the transmission line design and procurement of materials
- Project cost estimating and quality control reviews
- Should be familiar with Transmission industry codes and standards.
- Assist Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings
- Assist Engineer of Record with complex projects and be the lead engineer for smaller projects
- Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria
- Provide construction support for high voltage transmission line project
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members
- Provide field support during construction
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil/electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited college
- Engineering In Training (EIT) certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of transmission line design experience
- Experience in Power Line System-based programs (i.e., PLS Suite of software including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel may be required for up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior engineering consulting experience is preferred
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or P.Eng is a plus
For California Only: This position's base salary range approximation is $100K - $135K, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
