Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring that all food safety standards are met while maintaining an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality, adhering to food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Assist in menu development by providing input on new sushi offerings and seasonal specials.
- Train kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management.
- Adhere to health regulations and maintain cleanliness in accordance with food service guidelines.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, including various types of sushi, sashimi, and traditional cooking techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
- Proficient knife skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in catering or restaurant settings is a plus.
- A culinary degree or relevant certifications in food preparation is advantageous but not required.
