Job description
Position Summary:
- Glaziers will install pre-fabricated aluminum window frames, door frames, store fronts and curtain walls on building fronts. They must all be installed into rough openings and on the face of multi-story buildings, which is usually on a leading edge of an elevated level.
- Hang large and heavy all-glass doors onto installed aluminum door frames.
- Handle and move large, heavy, and sharp glass units.
- Must be able to use both hands and arms while handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating objects.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body (i.e. climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, kneeling and handling of large, heavy, fragile, and potentially dangerous materials).
- Field work will be focused primarily within Kovach’s Special Projects Division. Special Projects are typically smaller in scope and may consist of glass lite replacement, door replacement, field caulking, and lite demo.
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and abilities:
- Should be able to operate and control equipment, power tools, and other various materials.
- Should be capable of installing potentially dangerous materials per project specifications.
- Static Strength – Should be able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects.
- Steadiness – Should be able to keep your hand and arm on a single plane, while holding heavy weight.
- Flexibility – Should be able to bend, stretch, twist, and reach with your body in extremities.
- Dexterity – Should be able to quickly and precisely move both arms and hands to manipulate and position objects.
- Endured Strength – Should be able to exert muscle force repeatedly and continually over time with resistance of muscle fatigue.
- Numerical Faculty – Should be able to perform mathematical functions quickly and correctly, this includes counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
- Should have prior building and construction knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and/or homes.
- Should understand blueprints and specifications to determine size, type and dimensions of glass; and be able to interpret drawings to establish location for staging materials and framing, and installation procedures.
- Should have excellent communication skills. Special Project work requires close communication with customer and Kovach shop employee’s
