POSITION SUMMARY:
To remove shell material from tree.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and follow all procedure cards.
- Remove as much shell material as possible (without damaging product) either manually with a hammer or by placing in a machine whereby a jackhammer removes the material by vibration.
- Place proper route sheet with product.
- Count and verify tree count with route sheet.
- Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards.
- Comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school education or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements):
- LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.
- REASONING ABILITY - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hearing protection is required to be worn.
PPE
- A powered air supplying respirator must be worn during operation.
- Steel toed boots with metatarsal guards must be worn when working at this position.
- Hearing protection is required when working in the Aftercast department
- Safety glasses are required all manufacturing departments.
- Steel toed boots with metatarsal guards must be worn when working at this position.
- PPE is worn for the entire shift (example - 8, 10, 12 hours) less break and lunch times.
