What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Manager position at Kowalski Companies Inc?
The packaging manager will be responsible for a team of 17 employees. They will ensure compliance with all Quality standards to ensure the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are safe for human consumption.
Responsibilities:
- Implement the daily plans by setting-up equipment; monitoring results; adjusting and improving performance.
- Conduct daily prestart up inspections.
- Encourage a positive work culture, attitude and continuous improvement.
- Promote a team environment.
- Meet daily with production staff to discuss production plans and issues. (Morning Meeting)
- Provide accurate and complete production records.
- Actively communicate with other departments heads to effectively execute the production schedule.
- Coordinate with maintenance to address equipment issues that occur within production.
- Enforce company policy on attendance, company rules, safety rules, job description and sanitation requirements as well as GMP, food safety & security policies.
- Track performance KPI's of the department and communicates to Management and their team performance execution.
- Supervise the sanitation effort to ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and to remain in accordance with applicable local, state and federal standards on cleanliness and food safety.
- Work on the lines or with machines, as needed when personnel are absent to ensure production schedule is maintained.
- Ensure resources and supplies for production are ordered when needed.
- Resolve employee issues when able to.
- Train employees how to properly use equipment.
- Check and submit employee hours for payroll on software system.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years in food manufacturing and 2 years in a management position.
- Education: High School Diploma (required). Bachelor's degree in related field (preferred)
- Strong aptitude for data analysis and accurate information reporting.
- Strong problem solving and team management skills.
- Experience in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (preferred but not required).
- Experience in packaging is a plus.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of management.
- Experience with setting expectations and coaching accountability.
- Lean/ 6-Sigma a plus.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to refrigerated and damp environment.
- Use of standard PPE (hairnets, safety glasses and beard nets, masks and shields).
- WORK HOURS : start time is 5:00 am

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
