Position Overview:
The Multi-Skilled Tradesman will perform a variety of tasks related to carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, painting, basic floor laying, and kitchen/bathroom fitting. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about construction and restoration and who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Load and unload construction materials.
Prepare and clean construction sites by removing obstacles and hazards.
Be open to learning and adapting to new skills on-site.
Work in collaboration with in-house staff and follow all site health and safety regulations.
Unload tools, set up building site materials, and stack construction materials.
Operate construction tools and equipment to complete daily tasks.
Ensure the proper use of safety gear, including headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses, and appropriate clothing.
Assist in building scaffolding and temporary structures.
Safely operate tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, and grinders.
Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials from worksites.
Ensure that all tools and construction equipment are cleaned and stored properly.
Assist other tradespeople such as welders, carpenters, and painters on-site.
Transport materials and equipment (e.g., cement, drills, grinders).
Follow supervisors’ instructions for performing manual labor tasks (e.g., digging, stacking goods).
Set up and manage temporary structures like scaffolding.
Place warning signs to ensure safety around vehicles and passersby.
Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions promptly.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in tile layout and installation (floor, wall, and shower).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience installing various types of flooring (vinyl planks, ceramic tile, carpet).
General construction experience in multiple trades such as finish carpentry, framing, flooring, drywall, light plumbing, light electrical, roofing, or concrete is a plus.
Ability to work both individually and in a team environment.
Strong customer service skills and communication abilities.
Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle insurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Frequently required to stand, walk, or sit.
Ability to utilize hand and finger dexterity continually.
Occasional requirements to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
Must have the ability to talk, hear, and utilize visual acuity for equipment operation and reading technical information.
Ability to lift, push, and carry items exceeding 50 lbs.
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
Occasionally works around loud noise, including equipment such as jackhammers.
Working Conditions:
May work in conditions that require physical exertion, exposure to noise, and varying weather conditions.
Use of specialized equipment such as automobiles and construction tools.
