The Role:
The Senior Molecular Development Manager oversees the Molecular team to support the development and manufacture of in situ hybridization assays and all associated reagents and stains in a regulated industry for use in the company family of medical devices. The manager will be responsible for the planning, execution and development of molecular assay development projects, technology transfer to operations and, troubleshooting of molecular related problems in development and manufacturing, implementation of new technologies and adaptation of such.
Directs the activities of a molecular team in the development and manufacture of the company's products, projects, and processes. Conducts and collaborates with others on the principles and theories in molecular assay development and evaluation. Writes and reviews protocols for development deliverables and milestones. Develops strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectives. Monitors and evaluates completion of tasks and projects. May develop budgets for capital expenditures and labor. Typically collaborates with other leaders to establish department and team procedures. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters within the team. Selects, develops and evaluates employees to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Responsibilities:
- Initiates, directs and executes scientific efforts in the areas of molecular assay development.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to insure efficient delivery (on time and within budget) of molecular product development milestones, on market support activities and development investigations.
- Establishes and maintains program milestones and timelines
- Makes major contributions to all areas that need molecular expertise, including feasibility, development, assay transfer and manufacturing.
- Leads the molecular team in staff training, maintenance and upkeep of laboratories and capital equipment, health and safety issues, implementation of compliance at the company and national level
- Provides open environment and promotes teamwork during the development process
- Assist in hiring process, preparation of departmental budgets; assists in monitors department spending.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- 5-10 years relevant scientific and development experience, including extensive experience in molecular assay development.
- 2 years of direct management experience in an industrial setting.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishments (e.g., product development and support) within a FDA/IVDR regulated environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge in developing, implementing and supporting new molecular product development and diagnostics
- Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in chemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to achieve project goals and timelines is required.
- Strong verbal, written communication skills. Ability to prepare and present information to groups.
- Ability to lead and motivate others in both matrixed and direct-line management environments.
- Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
- Experience with SAFe Agile methodologies would be a plus

Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
